A traffic stop led to an arrest in American Canyon after police found more than just registration violations yesterday afternoon. Officers from the American Canyon Police Department pulled over 51-year-old Vallejo resident Timothy De Los Reyes Jr. for driving a gold Honda Accord with expired registration along Highway 29 near Eucalyptus Drive.

Upon further scrutiny, which was compounded by the fact that De Los Reyes was on probation from Solano County and thereby subject to a vehicle search, his situation rapidly deteriorated. The traffic stop that seemed routine began to unspool a thread of legal infractions. A loaded 9mm magazine and body armor were discovered by the Napa Sheriff's Office K-9 unit, with their dog Maverick taking a significant role in recovering these items. In addition, suspected methamphetamine was found in quantities indicating an intent to distribute, as per the report provided by the American Canyon Police Department's bulletin.

The escalation of charges against De Los Reyes was precipitated by his physical demeanor, which led the officers to suspect that he was under the influence of a controlled substance at the time of the interaction, further complicating his legal predicament. Given his past and present conduct, authorities had sufficient cause to book him on multiple offenses.

Ultimately, De Los Reyes was arrested and transported to the Napa County Jail, facing a slew of charges, including driving under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of ammunition by a prohibited person.
