A sudden crash at Kennedy Elementary School in Mankato, Minnesota led to an urgent response and evacuation of students earlier today. Initial reports indicate that the crash was likely an accident, not an intentional act. According to a social media post from the City of Mankato, Minnesota Government, a vehicle collided with a section of the school building prompting swift action to ensure the safety of all those present.
Remarkably, there have been no injuries reported as a result of the collision. The students were sent to the nearby East High School as a temporary shelter. The vehicle involved had struck a column in the school and will only be removed once a structural engineer comprehensively assesses the stability and safety of the affected building. During the event, Kennedy students were herded to East High School, and instructions were provided for their pickup at Door #20, situated towards the back of the high school property with specified parking available between the tennis courts and the baseball field, not leaving anything to chance in managing the unexpected transportation needs.
The district has made provisions for buses to transport students back to their homes, if parents are not able to pick up their students.
