The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) has announced a closure that will impact anyone heading north along State Route 143. From 10 p.m. today to 4 a.m. on Monday, February 17, northbound SR 143 will be shuttered between Interstate 10 and Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway). The I-10 ramps to northbound SR 143 will also be out of commission during this period.

The inconvenience doesn't stop there. Motorists will also have to bypass the northbound SR 143 on-ramp at University Drive and find alternate routes as northbound 48th Street is set to close between Broadway Road and I-10. ADOT has laid out detour plans: for those on westbound I-10, take the eastbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) to access southbound SR 143, if you're coming from eastbound I-10, the suggested path is via eastbound US 60, northbound Loop 101 (Price Freeway), then westbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) to head south on SR 143.

Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport-bound travelers from southbound I-17, westbound I-10, and westbound US 60 should adjust their routes accordingly. ADOT recommends using westbound I-10 to enter the airport at 24th Street or Buckeye Road or approaching via Sky Harbor Boulevard from Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway). These changes are part of the broader I-10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project, geared towards reducing congestion, enhancing airport access, and supporting local growth projections. More details can be found on the official ADOT website at ADOT's announcement.

ADOT's reminders come with a caution: "Schedules can quickly change because of weather and other unforeseen situations." To stay ahead of the curve, consider downloading TheCurve, the free mobile app dedicated to the Interstate 10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project, or check the project website's Alerts section before setting off, as per ADOT's announcement.
