A West Palm Beach man with a history of violent offenses was arrested for allegedly kidnapping a 24-year-old intellectually disabled woman. The suspect, 71-year-old Alvin Gayle, has been described by the Boynton Beach Police Department as a 'career offender' with previous convictions that include sexual battery and kidnapping, according to CBS12.
Authorities were alerted to the situation near South Seacrest Boulevard around 2:30 p.m. on Friday, with officers canvassing the area and eventually identifying the suspect through witness descriptions, as recounted by Boca News Now. At the time, Gayle was purportedly employed with a road construction crew situated near the victim's home. Despite claiming to be at a doctor’s appointment in West Palm Beach when contacted by officers, law enforcement located both Gayle and the abducted woman at the said location.
Following the successful rescue of the victim, Gayle was taken into custody. The preliminary investigation suggested that the motive behind the kidnapping was to engage in sexual activity with the woman, and authorities assert that Gayle was aware of her intellectual disability, as mentioned in WPBF.
Currently, Gayle is being held at the Palm Beach County Jail on kidnapping charges, while the specifics of the case and the circumstances leading up to the woman's abduction continue to be scrutinized by local investigators. Details of Gayle's violent past, which includes a conviction for offense against a child, and attempted murder, shine a grim light on the predatory nature of this latest incident.
