In an act of community spirit, the White Settlement Police Department joined forces with local leaders to raise funds for a cause supporting inclusivity and empowering athletes with intellectual disabilities. A social media post from the White Settlement Police Department detailed their involvement in a recent fundraiser to benefit Special Olympics Texas and the district's Special Olympics JETS program. The event, collaborating with the VFW 5617 Post in White Settlement, Texas, generated substantial funds.
Chief Cook was present among the mingling crowd, demonstrating his support alongside Mayor Faron Young, members of the City Council, and City Manager Jeff James. Together with community members, they gathered to reaffirm their commitment to enriching the lives of Special Olympians within their local school district.
Events like this show how working together can change how people view those with intellectual disabilities, giving them a chance to show their athletic skills. Special Olympics athletes build confidence and courage through sports, which helps them in many areas of their lives.
