Residents of White Settlement demonstrated an inspiring display of community and support this past Sunday and Monday. The city hosted a polar plunge in the chilly morning hours and a Valentine's Friendship Skate in the evening. The polar plunge and accompanying skate session, detailed in the City of White Settlement's social media post, raised funds and awareness for Special Olympics Texas and White Settlement ISD Special Programs JETS.
The Valentine's Friendship Skate, held at Silver Wheel Skating Rink from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., allowed community members to lace up skates. By engaging with each other on the rink, participants spent the evening in good company and contributed to an initiative that empowers athletes with intellectual disabilities.
According to the social media shoutout by the City of White Settlement, local news outlet FOX 4 News covered the events, emphasizing local media's role in promoting community-oriented actions.
