A tragic shooting occurred in Winter Garden, where a man was found dead next to his ATV, prompting a quick response from local law enforcement. According to ClickOrlando, Winter Garden Police responded to a home on Horizon Street around 3:51 p.m. yesterday following reports of a shooting. The victim, 32-year-old Ja’Keem DeShun Williams, was discovered fatally injured.
Witnesses told the authorities that a dispute over ATV and motorcycle usage in the apartment complex may have escalated to violence. "Investigators arrived on the scene and determined that there was a disturbance in reference to an ongoing issue with subjects riding motorcycles in the apartment complex, and a subject had fired a gun at the motorcyclist," stated the police release detailed by ClickOrlando. The altercation reportedly arose after the leasing office manager had complained about Williams riding an ATV back and forth near the office.
Police have arrested 57-year-old Ralph Francis Hensel in connection with the shooting, and he is now facing first-degree murder charges. Video surveillance captured Hensel walking toward Williams before two shots were heard. After lying in wait, Hensel is alleged to have emerged and fired upon Williams as he passed by on his four-wheeler.
The investigation is ongoing, with the Winter Garden Police providing updates as additional details emerge. Neighbors declined to comment on the incident with the press. Hensel remains in custody, and according to WESH, he is accused of shooting Williams during the dispute. The police have not indicated anyone else was involved in this tragic event.
