According to a FOX 10 Phoenix report, authorities responded to multiple 911 calls around 11:30 p.m. last Sunday after gunfire was reported.

The victim, a 41-year-old woman, was found inside a car with a life-threatening gunshot wound. Officers were quick to administer life-saving measures before she was transported to a nearby hospital. She remains in critical condition. Despite the severity of the situation, police have suggested there is not an ongoing threat to the community at large.

Details surrounding the circumstances of the shooting remain scant, as Surprise PD continues their investigation. "As this investigation is still in its early stages, we currently do not have any information regarding the suspect(s)," the department stated in comments obtained by FOX 10 Phoenix. They further noted that detectives would be in the area for several hours gathering information.
