A woman was left in serious condition following a shooting in Memphis' Medical District, reported FOX13 Memphis. The Memphis Police Department stated that the incident occurred just after 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, with officers responding to Mosby Avenue near Ashland Street. The victim was promptly taken to Regional One for treatment.
According to Action News 5, this is particularly troubling as there is currently no further information about the circumstances that led to the shooting; nor details on the potential suspect and no calls have been made to the public seeking information yet at this time.
In a separate but possibly related event, a man was found injured after a shooting in North Memphis that same evening, WREG notes. Police were called to the intersection of Majestic Avenue and Pearce Street a bit past 6:30 p.m., and discovered the male victim with a gunshot wound.
Adding to a night of violence, the Memphis Police Department has confirmed another shooting on the 900 block of Mosby Avenue occurring two hours after the first North Memphis incident, although details remain sparse, authorities are avidly collecting evidence and the presence of two crime scene vans was noted by WREG crews at the scene, indicating the seriousness of the investigation.
Memphis authorities are urging anyone with information related to either shooting incident to contact Crime Stoppers at 901-528-CASH.
