An 18-year-old has been charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action following the fatal shooting of another 18-year-old, identified as Khalil Green, found in a carjacked vehicle. According to the SLMPD report, the suspect, a relative of the victim, was already detained by police after a failed attempt to evade arrest in the stolen Honda Element.
As described by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police, the initial carjacking incident involved two victims: a 63-year-old woman and a 75-year-old woman, who were robbed at gunpoint in the 3900 block of N. 19th Street on Sunday afternoon. The younger woman’s Honda Element and the older woman’s Chevrolet Equinox were stolen by a group of five unidentified males. Both women, fearing for their lives, handed over their property but were not injured.
Police later found the Chevrolet Equinox at Winnebago and Minnesota, where they discovered Green deceased from a gunshot wound. The Honda Element was located following a high-speed chase that ended when the car became disabled at W. Florissant and Taylor. After a brief foot pursuit, two suspects, the 18-year-old charged with Green's murder and a 17-year-old, were taken into custody and two handguns were recovered.
The homicide division is actively investigating the case and has charged the 18-year-old suspect, who was arrested the night of the chase, as of March 3rd. Officials have requested the public's assistance in gathering further information.
