A shooting in the Marine Villa neighborhood is under investigation after a 24-year-old man was hospitalized from a gunshot wound late night. According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the incident occurred at the intersection of South Broadway and Meramec Street.
It was not until around 2:20 a.m. today, when the victim sought medical attention, that authorities were notified of the shooting. The man was initially reluctant to provide details or cooperate with law enforcement, he eventually disclosed that the shooting happened while he was walking at the said location; he "heard one gunshot and then felt pain to his leg," as mentioned on the SLMPD website. His injuries were fortunately non-life-threatening, and he is currently reported to be in stable condition.
The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department's District 1 detectives are actively investigating the incident, and they are asking for the community's assistance. There is an appeal for anyone with information to come forward, and the department is encouraging tipsters to contact CrimeStoppers. This can be done anonymously, and there is potential for a cash reward if the tip leads to an arrest.
