In a disturbing instance of criminal intimidation in Kingsway East, a 69-year-old man experienced a violent home invasion on Wednesday when he answered a late-night knock on his door to find four men, including one he recognized by a nickname, according to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department (SLMPD).
The victim recounted that upon opening the door around 1 a.m., he was confronted by the familiar individual and three unknown men, the unwelcome visitors brazenly brandishing a pistol, they forced entry into his residence and demanded money, as stated in a release by SLMPD. When the elderly man informed the intruders that he had no money to give, the situation escalated, the known assailant striking him in the head with the firearm, resulting in a laceration, and the suspects imparted a harrowing ultimatum, giving him a mere two days to produce the demanded sum.
The group of suspects then made their escape in an older-model vehicle, fleeing the scene before law enforcement could intervene; Detectives from District 5 are now actively investigating the crime, piecing together evidence in hope of bringing the perpetrators to justice.
