Hamilton Heights became the scene of a brazen carjacking as a 70-year-old man reported being assaulted and robbed by two women yesterday. The Saint Louis Police Department's District 5 is actively investigating the incident that unfolded at the intersection of Wells & Rowan Avenues, as SLMPD reported.
The elderly victim recounted to authorities that shortly before 5:45 p.m., he was giving a ride to a 21-year-old woman to Hamilton Heights. Upon their arrival, they were approached by a 39-year-old woman, who was an acquaintance of his passenger. The situation quickly escalated as both women allegedly assaulted the younger one, and when the man tried to intervene, he too was dragged out of his vehicle and assaulted. The older suspect then simulated having a weapon and commandeered his 2003 Ford Explorer.
No physical injuries were reported during the carjacking, and the suspects managed to escape in the stolen vehicle. The 70-year-old man's account indicates an alarming level of violence and intimidation. Authorities are pursuing leads and the inquiry is in its active phase. Members of the Hamilton Heights community are on high alert, awaiting further developments.
