The City of Acworth has earned the Tree City USA designation for another year, continuing its environmental commitment since 1998. During a city council meeting on Thursday last week, Kim Watt, the Parks, Recreation, and Community Resource Department Director, recognized the winners of the 2025 Arbor Day photo contest for their contributions to the city's natural beauty, as reported by the City of Acworth release.
The winning photos, showcasing the beauty of trees, will be displayed at the Acworth Community Center throughout March. The city's efforts to maintain its tree canopy are supported by the Acworth Tree Commission, a group appointed by city leaders. The commission organizes Arbor Day events and oversees tree planting and maintenance, contributing to Acworth’s green spaces.
The Tree Commission meets quarterly in January, April, July, and October at the Acworth Community Center to discuss and promote the city’s greening efforts. Acworth’s continued recognition as a Tree City USA highlights the city’s dedication to maintaining and enhancing its natural environment.
