The Alameda Fire Department tackled a fiery situation at Marina Village Yacht Harbor, where two boats became engulfed in flames. The incident occurred around 3:30 a.m. in the 1000 block of Marina Village Parkway, according to the Alameda Fire Department.
Upon arriving, firefighters were confronted with two watercrafts fully involved in the fire that also posed a risk to neighboring vessels and the dock. The threat wasn’t subdued until fire crews had laid out hose lines stretching some 400 feet down to the heart of the blaze and commenced the firefight; a team of 16 personnel answered the early morning call. Fire Boat 1 was at hand to aid in the suppression efforts, and the quick-footed response of the firefighters, coupled with the fire boat's support, was instrumental in preventing the spread of the fire to adjacent boats.
Despite the potential for a larger disaster, the firefighters managed to contain the damage within the perimeter of the originally affected yachts. There has been no immediate report of injuries, nor has the cause of the fire been determined, as the investigation into the source of the flames is still ongoing.
