An urgent AMBER Alert that had been issued on Monday for two young children from Riverdale was called off after the suspect and the children were found safe in Utah County. According to FOX13, the children, identified as 2-year-old Angie Trujillo and 3-year-old Ricardo Trujillo, were believed to be in "imminent danger." The suspect, 29-year-old Ricardo Rojel Trujillo, was also described as a possible homicide and arson suspect.

Later, officials received reports of Trujillo's vehicle in Springville Canyon, and upon responding to the area, found him not in his truck, but with the children. As obtained by ABC4, authorities confirmed that Trujillo was taken into custody and was being interviewed by detectives on Monday night. In the midst of this, officials also responded to a house fire and, tragically, a deceased woman, identified as the children’s mother, was discovered in the home. Her identifying information, however, was not released.

Previous incidents involving Trujillo include an arrest for domestic violence in January of this year and a guilty plea to a Class A misdemeanor assault charge in 2021. Following the apprehension of Trujillo and the safe recovery of the children, a local official commented on the situation. “A tragedy occurred tonight,” Warren said, “But we do have a win, where we were able to locate those children and get them back to their family,” as quoted by ABC4.

Descriptions of the children were disseminated as part of the AMBER Alert, with Angie being 2 feet 2 inches tall, weighing 35 pounds, and having black hair and brown eyes, and her brother Ricardo at 2 feet 5 inches and 45 pounds, also with black hair and brown eyes. Ricardo Rojel Trujillo, the suspect in question, was described as 5 feet 5 inches tall, 180 pounds, with black hair and black eyes, as detailed by KUTV.
