The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) announced the arrest of Jose Angel Hinojosa Huerta, a 47-year-old man from Ambrose, Coffee County, Georgia, for alleged Sexual Exploitation of Children, following a detailed probe into his activities online.
Authorities initiated the investigation into Huerta in September 2024 after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) submitted a Cyber Tipline Report signaling possible possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material, this led to a coordinated effort involving the Coffee County Sheriff's Office and the GBI's Douglas regional office, culminating in Huerta's arrest. Huerta is now being held at the Coffee County Jail.
This case underscored the persistent endeavors of the GBI’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, a branch under the Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes Unit, working tirelessly to clamp down on the trade of illicit materials involving minors.
The US Department of Justice established the ICAC Program amidst growing concerns over the increased use of the internet by children and adolescents, the rampant spread of child sexual abuse material, and predators increasingly engaging in unsupervised interactions with underage individuals, the task force functions as a critical measure in identifying and intercepting such illegal activities — according to a statement by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation obtained from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) press release.
The GBI encourages the public to remain vigilant and report suspected child exploitation by contacting the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes Unit, through the NCMEC CyberTipline, or by submitting anonymous tips via phone, online forms, or through the See Something, Send Something mobile app.
