Arizona's political sphere is embracing a somber mood with the news of Congressman Raúl Grijalva's passing. An outpouring of tributes is underway, as colleagues and the public alike remember his dedication and influence. Senator Ruben Gallego, who represents Arizona, has stepped forward to publicly honor the late congressman.
In his statement, Gallego underscored the impact Grijalva had far and wide: "Congressman Grijalva was not just my colleague, but my friend. As another Latino working in public service, I can say from experience that he served as a role model to many young people across the Grand Canyon State," as per the Senator's Office.
Senator Gallego reminisced on the indelible mark Grijalva made on Congress, especially apparent as he admirably led the House Natural Resources Committee, fiercely championing Arizona's environmental interests and the rights of its Tribes, as reported by the Senator's Office.
While Arizona mourns, Senator Gallego also expressed his sorrow over the loss, "I am praying for his family during this time of grief, and I hope that they find comfort knowing his legacy is one that will stand tall for generations," according to the Senator's Office.
