As dissent simmers across the nation, Arizonans are readying for another grassroots-organized demonstration dubbed the "March Fourth Against Monarchy" protest scheduled to take place at the Phoenix Capitol on Tuesday, March 4, from noon to 6 p.m. Phoenix New Times reports that the action, organized via Reddit and a burgeoning dedicated website, is part of a wider series of protests coordinated by the 50501 movement, targeting President Donald Trump's policies, including his stance on immigration and transgender rights, as well as his enabling of Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency.
The Arizona rally, along with other nationwide movements, aims to make voices heard against what the organizers perceive as monarchical tendencies within the current administration – reminiscent of the previous protests that have taken place since Trump’s inauguration, the "50501" on February 7 and the "No Kings on Presidents’ Day" on February 17, as per Phoenix New Times.
For those inclined to join, the Arizona protest is set at 1700 W. Washington St., Phoenix, AZ 85007 with the protest guidelines indicating a requirement to keep a 10-foot distance from all buildings and minimize damage to state property. Banners and signs should not be staked into the ground or affixed to structures or walkways, as detailed by Phoenix New Times. Those needing directions are guided to use public parking available near the Capitol or local public transportation, including the Valley Metro Lightrail, buses, and the Downtown DASH service, providing ease of access to the core of the protest.
Expanding the reach of dissent, the 50501 movement has also caught traction in Florida with an Orange County event planned at Orlando City Hall, and Jude Speegle, the grassroots organizer for Central Florida's 50501, is inviting disenchanted Trump voters to join in. As stated by VoxPopuli, "based in Daytona Beach, Speegle works with 20 other organizers to plan protests throughout Central Florida. We talked about how the group got started, what he hopes Tuesday’s protest will accomplish and inviting Trump voters with 'buyer's remorse' to join the resistance."
