Atlanta residents now have a new transit and recreational option with the opening of "The Spur" Trail. Mayor Andre Dickens, Councilmember Byron Amos, and representatives from the Atlanta Department of Transportation (ATLDOT), the Upper Westside Community Improvement District (Upper Westside CID), and the PATH Foundation unveiled the 0.7-mile trail during a ribbon-cutting ceremony yesterday morning, as per the Atlanta Department of Transportation.
The ceremony, held at Westside Paper at 950 West Marietta Street NW, marked the opening of the trail, which connects the Westside Beltline Connector to West Marietta Street NW. The trail features a new 65-foot bridge linking Westside Paper and Puritan Mill, passing through the English Avenue and Howell Station neighborhoods. The trail's 14-foot width allows space for both commuters and leisure travelers on foot or by bike.
The trail is now open to the public, increasing accessibility for Atlanta residents. The Upper Westside CID and its partners hope the project fosters community and encourages active transportation.
