The Atlanta music community is in mourning following the death of local rapper Young Scooter, born Kenneth Bailey, who died last Friday under tragic circumstances. According to FOX 5 Atlanta, Young Scooter was involved in an incident where police responded to reports of a dispute with a weapon on William Nye Drive SE in Atlanta.
When the Atlanta Police Department officers arrived, a male quickly closed the door on them, prompting them to establish a perimeter. It was during this procedure that Young Scooter and another man fled from the back of the house. In a statement obtained by 11Alive, the police specified, "One male returned back into the house. The other male jumped two fences as he was fleeing." Young Scooter unfortunately sustained a severe injury to his leg in the process and died at Grady Hospital.
Lt. Andrew Smith, the commander of Atlanta’s homicide unit, clarified the nature of the injury, "He appeared to have suffered an injury to his leg," and stressed, "Just to be very clear, the injury that was sustained was not via the officers on scene."
