
Last night's calm was shattered by gunfire at 3337 Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. NW as a 20-year-old woman was shot during a confrontation that spilled into the streets of Atlanta. According to the Atlanta Police Department's official statement, a physical altercation initially drew security's attention around 11:20 p.m., which required intervention from an off-duty officer.
As tensions failed to simmer down and the crowd dispersed into the parking lot, at about 11:43 p.m. a man, later identified as 45-year-old Andrew Trotter, approached a group that may have been part of the earlier dispute leading to an exchange of gunfire in which the young woman was injured, she was alert conscious and breathing when first responders arrived. The officer at the scene detained one shooter, Andrew Trotter, without further incident. Trotter now faces charges including Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
The injured woman was swiftly attended to and transported to the hospital by ambulance, her current condition remains undisclosed. Investigators are actively working the case, piecing together the events that led to the shooting and establishing the connections between those involved.
