
In the recent municipal elections, Boynton Beach, Jupiter, and Royal Palm Beach elected new mayors. In Boynton Beach, Rebecca Shelton won with 56% of the vote, defeating her closest rival, Court McQuire, who received over 28% of the vote from nearly 5,489 ballots, according to WPBF.
The current mayor, Ty Penserga, was ineligible for re-election due to term limits, which opened the race to new candidates. Other contenders included Golene Gordon, who earned 12.12% of the vote, and David Merker, who received 3.59%, as reported by CBS12.
In Jupiter, incumbent mayor Jim Kuretski secured another three-year term with 56.29% of the vote, defeating Council Member Cameron May. Meanwhile, in Royal Palm Beach, incumbent mayor Jeff Hmara won with 58.32% of the vote, defeating challengers including Justin K. Plaza and Vice Mayor Selena Samios, according to WPBF.
The elections also featured votes on various measures and council seats. In the Town of Golf, residents approved a measure to have the Village Council consist of three or five members, with 89.11% in favor. In Highland Beach, voters approved a $3.5 million measure for fire station rehabilitation and a public safety marine facility, with 60% support, according to CBS12.
