ABC15 and Arizona's Family report that the company's foray into Arizona, initially expected by Christmas 2025, is now scheduled for a summer debut next year.
The delay, the specific reasoning for which has not been publicly detailed, comes despite significant progress with groundwork already in place at the southeast corner of Bullard Avenue and Interstate 10. True to its brand, the establishment plans to offer a substantial 74,000-to-75,400-square-foot retail experience complete with 120 fueling stations, designed for passenger vehicles exclusively, as "we are currently planning to open our Goodyear, AZ location in June 2026," a Buc-ee's representative confirmed in a statement obtained by ABC15.
This Buc-ee's outpost promises to deliver its iconic take on travel center amenities, including homemade barbecue, fudge, and the Texas-style culinary whole nine yards, featuring brisket and tacos. Prospective customers can look forward to the chain's own "Beaver Nuggets," and a "wall of beef jerky" according to details shared by Arizona's Family. The Goodyear City Council's approval of a zoning change, critical for the expansion, took place on January 29, 2024, and the city has projected the site to provide 200 full-time jobs.
Buc-ee's, besides being famous for its amiable beaver mascot, has previously won accolades such as "Best Restroom in America" in 2012 and runs the record-breaking largest gas station in the world in Sevierville, Tennessee. The chain heavily operates across the southern United States, with 47 stores spread throughout Texas, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Missouri, and South Carolina.
