Butler County is grappling with the ramifications of a significant drug bust, achieved through the collaborative efforts of local law enforcement agencies. The Butler County Undercover Regional Narcotics Task Force (B.U.R.N.), with assistance from the Trenton and Hamilton Police Departments, conducted two search warrants on Thursday, resulting in the confiscation of drugs, cash, and firearms, and culminating in the arrest of 44-year-old Rikki Sneed from Hamilton, Ohio.
According to a social media post by the Butler County Sheriff's Office, the first search warrant was executed at an address linked to the arrestee, 3 Jupiter Ct. in Trenton. Officers seized $20,000 in cash, two handguns, and a significant number of pills. The subsequent search at the suspect’s residence, 1028 S. 2nd St. in the city of Hamilton, led to the recovery of 108 grams of fentanyl and 230 grams of cocaine.
These seizures are not to be understated — the amounts of drugs found are a grim reminder of the ongoing battle against substance abuse and trafficking. Sheriff Richard K. Jones encapsulated the gravity of the situation, declaring, as reported by Butler County Sheriff's Office, “There were enough drugs taken off the street to kill over half a million people. One in jail and thousands of lives saved.” These words highlight the preventative nature of law enforcement operations, suggesting the wider implications for community safety and well-being.
Rikki Sneed, the individual apprehended in the sting, has been charged with two counts of Felony One, Possession of Drugs. The significant drug quantities, the possession of unlawful firearms, and the substantial cash recovered all paint a stark picture of the drug trade's presence in Butler County. This bust serves as a warning to those involved in similar activities and a reassurance to the community that adequate measures are being taken to address such critical issues.
