Commencing this weekend, Caltrans will shut down all westbound lanes of SR-52 from SR-163 to I-805, an announcement from the City of Santee's social media post disclosed. The closure began today at 9 p.m. and is expected to last until next Monday at 5 a.m. to facilitate necessary roadwork. As noted by the City of Santee, motorists are encouraged to map out alternative routes ahead of the weekend.

The closure requires that westbound SR-52 drivers take the connector to southbound I-15, then proceed to westbound I-8, and thereafter to northbound I-805 to rejoin the SR-52 connectors. Meanwhile, those continuing past the I-15 junction will be diverted onto southbound SR-163, as per Caltrans's website.
In preparation for the roadworks, Caltrans will implement portable changeable message signage along key routes, advising drivers of the closures and recommending alternate paths. Residents and businesses should brace for the anticipated construction noise and use of lighting throughout the weekend's road closure period.
