A 49-year-old Carlton man is facing charges following a tension-laded chase that began with a home invasion and escalated to threats at a credit union in Monroe County, Michigan. The chase, which unraveled on Tuesday morning, resulted in law enforcement deploying stop sticks and ultimately brought the pursuit to a gradual standstill, the Monroe County Sheriff's Office reported.

Early Tuesday, allegations arose of a man terrorizing the staff at the Monroe County Community Credit Union, demanding money before fleeing in a silver Chevrolet Impala. As reported by CBS News, the suspect had been previously linked to a home invasion that occurred the same morning in the 8700 block of Swan Creek Road. With two flat tires, the suspect continued driving the car, which a deputy initially halted during a routine traffic stop near the credit union on N. Dixie Highway.

Following the suspect's refusal to comply and subsequent escape, Deputy Jacob Laboe engaged in a chase that took a dramatic turn when another deputy strategically placed stop sticks at the intersection of N. Dixie Highway and Pointe Aux Peaux Road. The spikes were successful in deflating both front tires of the fugitive's vehicle, as noted by 13ABC.

The pursuit persisted at a reduced speed, leading northward along the highway with officers in close pursuit of the hobbled Impala. It was north of Trombley Road in Berlin Township that officials managed to capture the individual, arresting him without further complications. Yet to be arraigned, the man's identity is withheld, confirmed the Monroe County Reporters via a social media post.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office is actively continuing its investigation and pointedly urges anyone with related information on the incidents to reach out to them at 734-240-7537. The arrested man's name will be released once the arraignment procedures in Monroe County First District Court are complete, the sheriff's office stated.
