The City of Casa Grande is gearing up to host a range of activities designed to enhance the area's environmental well-being this spring. Announced by the Sanitation Division, one of the key events is the Household Hazardous Waste Event (HHW). Casa Grande residents can look forward to safely disposing of their hazardous materials on Saturday, March 29th. The event, entirely free of charge, is to take place from 8:00 a.m. to noon at the North Operations Center situated at 3181 N. Lear Avenue, as per the directive on the city's website.

The significance of proper disposal of household hazardous waste cannot be overstated as it poses serious environmental and health risks when not managed correctly. Items that fall under the umbrella of hazardous waste include automotive products, various cleaning agents, and other substances harmful to nature. Casa Grande encourages its community members to review the accepted materials list available online before the HHW event and reminds them of the 25-gallon per trip limit for each participant. The city has stressed that this initiative will only accept residential waste, with commercial waste not admitted.

In conjunction with the HHW event, Casa Grande has announced additional initiatives to encourage community involvement in maintaining a sustainable and clean environment. The city's website outlines further programs such as the “Keep Casa Grande Clean & Beautiful Adopt-A-Street program” and the “Youth Commission Day of Shredding.” The Adopt-A-Street program, which is set for April 5th at 7:30 a.m., invites local entities and individuals to commit to cleaning designated street segments over two years.

For those looking to dispose of sensitive documents, the Youth Commission Day of Shredding is scheduled for April 19th from 9:00 a.m. to noon at First American Credit Union located at 1001 N. Pinal Avenue. Residents who are unable to attend these events are reminded that the landfill remains open Monday through Saturday, from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., offering another avenue for proper waste management. Detailed information about all city-sponsored programs can be found on the Casa Grande website.
