
In a collaborative effort that brought together multiple law enforcement agencies, a Chattanooga man has been taken into custody in connection with a murder case. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation announced that Nicholas Antiono Cheaton, age 41, faces murder charges for the death of William Oliver Jones, 39. The arrest took place last Friday, with the GBI's Calhoun office leading the charge, backed by assistance from the Walker County Sheriff’s Office, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, U.S. Federal Probation Office, and the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.
The victim, William Oliver Jones, was found deceased in Chickamauga, GA, at his residence on West Highway 136, on March 14. Cheaton, who hails from Chattanooga, TN, was found at the home. He has been booked into the Hamilton County Jail and Detention Center. Authorities are preparing for his extradition. The body of Jones has been transported to the GBI Medical Examiner's Office where it awaits an autopsy, the completeness of which is still pending to this day.
