
A child is on the road to recovery after an incident of gun violence rocked the North Memphis community yesterday. As reported by WREG, this unfortunate shooting occurred in the afternoon and resulted in a juvenile female being rushed to the hospital with injuries classified as non-critical.
Memphis Police Department responded swiftly to the scene on the 2100 block of Brown Ave, near KIPP Memphis Academy High School, though the events unfolded after school hours. The exact age of the girl was not disclosed. "We will continue to prioritize campus safety and will fully cooperate with the authorities should they need any support in their ongoing investigation," a spokesperson for the school told Action News 5.
At this stage, officials have not made any arrests nor have they pointed to any suspects in the case. Details surrounding the circumstances of the shooting remain scarce.
