A man is currently hospitalized with severe injuries after being rescued from a burning apartment in Cincinnati's Kennedy Heights neighborhood, as reported by local authorities.

WLWT informed us that the blaze ignited on the second floor of the building located on the 3600 block of Northdale Place around 2 a.m. on Tuesday. The Cincinnati Fire Department responded vigorously to the incident. Unfortunately, according to fire officials, the smoke detectors that were installed in the building were not operational at the time of the fire.

In a statement obtained by WCPO, District Fire Chief Jay Bosse noted that neighbors had detected the smell of smoke and had attempted to alert the apartment occupant without response. Fire crews later found a male victim in one of the bedrooms, who was then transferred to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

Furthermore, as detailed by a FOX19 publication, the fire, which disrupted the tranquility of the otherwise quiet neighborhood, resulted in the displacement of three families, including six adults, and inflicted damages estimated at $165,000. Despite the fire being extinguished within five minutes of the firefighters' arrival, much effort was needed to fully subdue the blaze that had extended inside the apartment walls.

The investigation into the cause of the fire remains ongoing, and the American Red Cross is providing necessary aid to the families now without homes due to this tragic event. According to reports, the cause of the fire is still undetermined as authorities continue their investigation.
