In recognition of Black History Month, the City of Mesquite has taken to social media to celebrate several African American individuals' accomplishments and leadership roles within the city's various departments. Among those honored are Daven Butler, the Manager of Streets, and Vernon Drake, the Manager of Property Maintenance and Rental Inspection. The public acknowledgment extends to Senior Assistant City Attorney Gordon Hikel, Micala McCoy, Manager of Environmental Code, and Lt. C.J. Phillip of the Mesquite Police Department.
Other notable leaders spotlighted during this commemoration are Santosha Pratt, Mesquite's Grants Compliance Officer, and Ryan Williams, who is at the helm of the city's Purchasing department. Mesquite's tribute aligns with the city's ongoing efforts to appreciate the diversity and contributions of its civic leaders. Throughout February, such dedications to African American achievements were shared via the city's official channels, including its website and hosted events.
