In an effort to confront the pressing issue of community violence, Clayton County officials are rallying residents for an event aimed at addressing this critical challenge head-on. Commissioner Gail Hambrick alongside the Youth Violence Crime Reduction Steering committee (YVCRS), Clayton County Parks and Recreation, and the Clayton County Office of Youth Services, are hosting a "Stop the Violence Rally", as announced on the county's official website. The rally will take place on Saturday, March 22. The gathering is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will be held at the Virginia Burton Gray Recreation Center, located at 1475 E. Fayetteville Road, Riverdale, GA 30296.
The call to action is set to include a live panel discussion, where community members and leaders will engage in a discourse aimed at identifying the roots of violence within their midst, and strategizing about sustainable solutions. Attendees will also be treated to lunch and musical entertainment provided by a local DJ, potentially attracting a wide demographic, and fostering a sense of unity and purpose among those present. The event details were shared via the county's news post yesterday.
The official hashtag for the event is #Claytonconnected, encouraging attendees to share their experiences and continue the conversation online.
