
Coral Springs Vice Mayor Nancy Metayer Bowen has been appointed to the board of the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives (ICLEI) USA. In this new role, she will collaborate with leaders from cities, Tribal nations, and other governments to develop solutions for sustainable communities and reducing emissions, as announced by the Coral Springs government website.
Metayer Bowen, known for her work in environmental justice, will bring her experience with the Coral Springs Sustainability Action Plan to the ICLEI USA Board. She expressed enthusiasm about sharing the city's sustainability efforts and learning from other leaders on ways to enhance environmental sustainability.
Her appointment highlights Coral Springs' continued leadership in sustainability and climate resilience. Metayer Bowen's background as an Environmental Scientist and her work on environmental justice in Florida will support her contributions to the board's mission. ICLEI USA's Executive Director Saharnaz Mirzazad welcomed her appointment, noting the value of having passionate leaders to advance the organization's environmental goals.
