A Coral Springs woman with a long history of license suspensions was arrested again after a traffic stop revealed drugs and an incorrectly tagged vehicle. Maria Elena Pineda, 34, was stopped when an officer noticed her Toyota Avalon had a license plate registered to a Chrysler van. According to Local 10, Pineda appeared to be noticeably anxious during the stop and admitted to being out on bond for previous charges of driving with a suspended license.
The officer ran a records check on Pineda’s vehicle, uncovering a history of violations, including a revocation from 2018 for habitual driving infractions. Pineda’s license had been suspended 13 times, with multiple related convictions, as reported by TapInto Coral Springs.
During the stop, officers detected the smell of cannabis from Pineda’s vehicle. She admitted to possessing marijuana, which was found in her purse, along with two bags of suspected cannabis and a burnt cigarette near the gear shifter. A glass pipe on the driver's seat tested positive for cocaine. Pineda was arrested and charged with driving with a suspended license, possession of cannabis and drug paraphernalia, operating a vehicle with an unassigned tag, and failure to register the vehicle. She has since bonded out of Broward County Jail.
