In a move that has rocked the Corinth School District, the board of trustees voted unanimously to terminate the contract of Superintendent Dr. Lee Childress after a middle school teacher was arrested on charges of producing and possessing child pornography generated using artificial intelligence, as reported by WREG.
According to FOX13, "the teacher was caught creating and viewing the AI porn in November 2024 and was allowed to resign two days later." However, the Mississippi Department of Education wasn't informed until January the following year.
The board, in a statement acknowledges the importance of student safety, expressed they were "heartbroken over the pain caused to these young victims and their families over the incident with a former teacher at Corinth Middle School," as obtained by WREG.
Parents voiced their outrage over the lack of immediate action, with Jasmica Wade telling WREG, “We need to know what’s going on at our schools and with our children.” The board states they are implementing new policies to prevent a similar incident.
