In a move to celebrate Earth Month, the City of Deerfield Beach is ushering in its annual Arbor Day Tree Giveaway, set to take place on April 26 at the Bernard Adams Municipal Complex. Residents with property in Deerfield Beach are eligible to receive one tree per household, provided they can show proof of residency. The trees will be available from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on the day of the event, detailed in a statement from the city's official website.
For those interested in selecting their preferred sapling, pre-registration will be available from April 1 to April 21, allowing early registrants to choose their tree. Check-in for these individuals will take place from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m., as indicated by the city’s announcement. Those who do not pre-register are welcome to attend from 9 a.m. to noon, where trees will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, while supplies last.
A range of decorative and fruit-bearing trees will be offered, including varieties like 'Ruby Supreme' Guava and Soursop, as well as ornamental plants such as the Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow plant. Other options include local species like the Thatch Palm and exotic trees like Longan and Jaboticaba, all available for planting in local gardens.
Those who complete the registration process will not only reserve their selected tree but also receive a complimentary bag of compost, provided by Deerfield Beach's DFB Compost program. This initiative aligns with the city’s efforts to promote sustainable living and environmental awareness. Residents interested in participating or obtaining more information can visit the city's Earth Month page, where they can find registration links and additional details.
