
As severe weather approaches DeKalb County, local authorities are opening four severe weather centers starting at 8 p.m. Saturday. These centers will provide refuge from tornadoes, damaging winds, heavy rain, and hail. The DeKalb County's announcement includes details on locations and transportation for those seeking shelter, including Frontline Response International and other community centers.
Frontline Response International, located at 2585 Gresham Road in Atlanta, will be the main shelter for those in need. The county has set up transportation from various locations, including the North DeKalb Senior/Community Center, Mason Mill Recreation Center, and Exchange Park Intergeneration Center. These centers will offer shelter, hot meals, beds, and case management services.
Community members can access Frontline Response International through transportation from locations like the Chamblee Library, Avondale Fire Station No. 3, and others. Pickup times vary, starting as early as 5:40 p.m. at the Chamblee Library and running until 9 p.m. at the Exchange Park Intergeneration Center, according to the county's schedule.
