U.S. Border Patrol agents in the Del Rio Sector recently apprehended three men near Carrizo Springs, Texas, after they attempted to enter the country illegally. On February 27, authorities were notified of the individuals' presence on a local ranch by an alert from CBP Air and Marine Operations. The agents employed tracking techniques to locate these individuals, who had taken measures to obscure their footprints by attaching carpet to the soles of their shoes.
During the operation, Del Rio Sector Acting Chief Patrol Agent Milton Moreno highlighted the determination of those attempting to cross the border, stating, "Illegal aliens will go to great lengths to try to conceal their entry into the country." Despite these efforts, the Border Patrol's skill in sign cutting – a tracking method – often thwarts such attempts. This incident was no exception, with agents successfully intercepting the group and bringing them to the Carrizo Springs Border Patrol Station for processing, as reported by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection newsroom.
One of the men detained was identified as Refugio Juarez-Argote, a 30-year-old Mexican national. Records revealed that Juarez-Argote had a history with U.S. immigration authorities, having been previously deported in 2013. Due to his reentry after deportation, he now faces charges under 8 USC § 1326, which criminalizes the action.
The U.S. Border Patrol remains vigilant, maintaining their presence along known smuggling routes to disrupt the movement of unauthorized individuals and contraband into the country. The public is encouraged to remain aware and report any suspicious activities by contacting local authorities or directly reaching out to the Del Rio Sector at (830) 778-7000, furthering efforts to control and secure the nation's borders.
