An incident at Miami International Airport has led to the arrest of a 55-year-old Dominican woman after she claimed to have a bomb in her bag as a purported joke. According to a report by WSVN, the woman, identified as Carmen Rosa Solislerqux, a swimming instructor from Santo Domingo, was apprehended on Sunday evening around 7:30 p.m. after an airport employee alerted the authorities about the alleged threat.
Solislerqux, while carrying three bags, reportedly refused to consolidate them when requested by the employee, subsequently declaring that one of them contained a bomb. Stating it was meant as a joke after being detained by police, she found herself in a situation where humor was not to be understood, as take such claims very seriously, particularly in an airport setting, where jokes of this kind can cause panic and alarm.
Following the incident, police deployed K-9 units to search the area and her baggage; no explosives were found. Despite the lack of a physical threat, Solislerqux's comment led to her arrest and she was transported to Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. As per the report obtained from Local 10, she was booked shortly after midnight yesterday, facing a second-degree felony charge for making a false report concerning planting a bomb or involving the use of firearms in a violent manner.
