The quiet of suburban life was disrupted in Highlands Ranch and Franktown following a series of sophisticated home burglaries. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is spearheading an investigation into these crimes, where signs suggest that the perpetrators employed savvy tactics to avoid detection, such as possibly using a Wi-Fi jammer to thwart home security cameras. The incidents, which occurred on a recent Friday evening east of Broadway and E. Gateway Dr., left three households in disarray, their private sanctuaries turned upside down by unwelcome visitors searching for loot.
According to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, in one of these intrusions, a resident came home to find three perpetrators inside the property, one of the homes even had its power cut. Detectives are also looking into a similar break-in in Franktown, where a back door was shattered and the camera system disabled. Although connections between the Highlands Ranch and Franktown burglaries are not yet confirmed, the common thread appears to be the suspect(s)’ knowledge of the homeowners’ absences and tactics to disable surveillance technology.
"Catching these burglars is a priority for the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, not just for bringing justice to the victims, but for preventing future crimes that could disrupt the lives of more innocent families," Sheriff Darren Weekly stated, as per Douglas County Sheriff's Office. "We know there are individuals in the metro area who have crucial information about those responsible for these crimes. We urge you to come forward – your identity will remain anonymous, and you could be eligible for a Metro Denver Crime Stoppers reward." These ongoing investigations have the detectives diligently working to piece together the events, seeking aid from those who may hold the key details.
