Spring is in the full swing and with it comes the return of the Family Easter Celebration in Downtown Chandler. Scheduled for April 18, this community event promises an evening of egg hunts and family fun, all without the need to dip into your wallet. From 5:30 to 8:30 p.m at Dr. A.J. Chandler Park: Stage Plaza, families can take part in a variety of activities including the 24 Karrot Trail, where children under nine can scavenge for eggs containing candy or prizes. A special "golden karrot" egg will even score some lucky kids a unique reward, according to a recent press release.
But that's not all the Easter bunny has in store. Every family in attendance will have the chance to snag an Easter basket full of goodies through a free drawing, with the winner announced at 7:40 p.m. The little ones can also look forward to carnival games, inflatable attractions, and a visit from the Easter Bunny for those all-important holiday snaps. And let's not forget the local performances or the prize wheel that's always a spin away from a win. Plus, treats and drinks will be available for purchase to keep the energy levels high.
For the creative types, the Easter coloring contest is seeking submissions from young artists up to the age of nine. Entries, which can be adorned with crayons, markers or a sprinkle of glitter, needs to be turned in by April 14. A display of color and creativity, winners in four different age brackets will be declared at 5:45 p.m. on the day of the event, as disclosed on the event's official page.
The 45th running of this egg-straordinary event wouldn't be possible without the support of the City of Chandler and a lineup of local sponsors including the Chandler Lions Club, WM, Raising Cane’s, and the VCA Animal Referral & Emergency Center of Arizona. Parents planning to attend should note that parking is recommended on the east side of Arizona Avenue, with options like the City Hall, Jonathan, and Alexander parking garages offering spots for visitors.
