An Eagle Mountain mother has been arrested following the death of her two-month-old infant who was found submerged in a bathtub. Taylor Nichole Trusty, 24, was booked into Utah County Jail on multiple charges, including negligent homicide.

According to ABC4, the incident occurred on Friday, when Utah County deputies responded to a report of an infant not breathing at a home in the Pioneer Landing area. The child was pronounced dead at the scene, despite first responders' efforts. A press release from the Utah County Sheriff's Office indicated there were "concerning signs of possible neglect" observed.

As reported by KUTV, Trusty's admission of drinking "a large amount of alcohol" before the bath, consisting of three to four shots of hard liquor and two alcoholic seltzer beverages. Trusty has a history of falling asleep in the bath, and during the interview with police, she claimed to have placed her infant on her lap "just above the water line" before losing consciousness. She was awakened by a seven-year-old daughter, concerned about the younger sibling's status in the bath.

Further revealing the severity of the situation, Trusty recounted to authorities, as obtained by FOX13, how upon waking, she found the infant "face down in the bath water and partially under [the mother's] knee." The Utah County Sheriff's Office reported that another child alerted other family members while Trusty attempted unsuccessful resuscitation efforts.
