
An early morning altercation in the Carondelet neighborhood escalated into a shooting incident, leaving one man injured and prompting an immediate police response. According to a report from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the events unfolded around 4:00 a.m. in the 500 block of Eiler when a 28-year-old woman was confronted and assaulted by a known 33-year-old male assailant brandishing a gun.
The confrontation took a violent turn as the man fired a shot towards the woman, and in a twist of fate, she returned fire, effectively ending the altercation the 33-year-old man was last seen running from the scene, leaving behind more than just the echo of gunfire, but also a trail for the authorities to follow. District 1 officers, aided by canine counterparts, successfully traced and located the man in the rear of the 5400 block of Alabama, where he was found suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg.
The alleged assailant was arrested at the scene and subsequently hospitalized in stable condition. Meanwhile, the woman involved received treatment on-site following the harrowing encounter. Moreover, law enforcement officials reported recovering two handguns at the scene, which now serve as evidence in an ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
