The art scene over at El Paso Community College (EPCC) is buzzing with fresh creativity and accolades. EPCC hosted its 48th annual Juried Student Art Exhibition at the Transmountain campus Gallery of Fine Art, complemented by the alternative Salon des Refuses across the hall. As a platform showcasing the variety and skill of its students, the event featured a collection of visual arts, including everything from painting and sculpture to digital design and animation.

According to EPCC, the artwork on display was created by students from different backgrounds and levels across the college district. The Salon de Refuses, curated by a student employee and assistant at the EPCC Gallery of Fine Art, Alex Pacheco, offers a space for works that weren't included in the main showcase.

During the opening reception on March 28, an awards ceremony was conducted to honor the outstanding pieces of student art. Guest juror Juan de Mora, printmaker and Associate Professor at the University of Texas at San Antonio, had the task of judging 110 submissions. "It's great to see the creative process, and I am so fortunate to juror this exhibit," de Mora said during the event. "It's been a beautiful experience," as obtained by EPCC.

Marco Sánchez, EPCC Assistant Professor of Art, praised the exceptional quality of the exhibition. Witnessing the superior work this year as compared to last, "I think it's great, last year we had a really good show, and I think this year it's slightly stronger," as per EPCC. The sentiment mirrors the dedication and efforts of the students involved. Although the winners' names were not disclosed in this blurb, their works stand as a testament to the vibrant and diverse art culture thriving within the college.
