Tragedy struck a quiet El Paso County road early Monday morning, as a routine patrol revealed a grim scene on Crawford Avenue, an incident that would later unfold as a homicide investigation, the El Paso County Sheriff's Office reports. A deputy discovered a stationary vehicle near the intersection of Crawford Avenue and Withington Drive; inside, an unresponsive man was sitting in the passenger seat.
Efforts to revive the man were made initially by deputies, and subsequently by Security Fire Department personnel who arrived quickly on the scene, although the life-saving attempts did not yield success, and the man was pronounced dead. He was later identified by the El Paso County Coroner’s Office as 24-year-old Miguel Ramirez Quiroz, according to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.
In the wake of the incident, one Miguel Angel Garcia-Hernandez has been arrested and charged in connection with the homicide of Quiroz, whose death has undoubtedly sent ripples through the local community, casting a shadow on the devastated family and friends left behind.
