El Paso has recorded its 15th traffic fatality of the year following a tragic single-vehicle crash early Sunday. According to the El Paso Police Department, the accident occurred on Loop 375 North near Montana Avenue. The driver, behind the wheel of a Kia Soul, lost control and collided with a fence pole, causing the vehicle to flip onto its passenger side.
Investigators at the scene indicated that the driver was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Unfortunately, the driver succumbed to the injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident continues to be under investigation, but early reports suggest that alcohol may have played a role in the crash.
This latest death marks an increase in traffic fatalities compared to last year, when there were 13 fatalities at the same time. The rise in such incidents is a concerning trend for local authorities and residents alike.
