According to the City of Lawton's announcement, this part of the renovation operation should round up in another 50 days if all goes to plan.
With construction in full swing, those who frequent 53rd & Elm Street should prepare for alternative routes and occasional snags, as lane shutdowns are expected to allow the workers to perform their tasks, though these disruptions promise only minor delays.
For the safety of both the crew and commuters passing through the worksite, the city is urging drivers to take it slow and pay attention to any detour signs that have sprouted up in the area. In a statement released by the City of Lawton's news release, the emphasis is on protecting those on the ground day in and day out, adding that "reducing speed in the construction zone will help protect both workers and drivers alike."
