El Paso Community College's very own Jim Heiney has made his institute proud by completing the prestigious National Council for Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR) Leadership Institute, a 10-month program designed to beef up leadership skills for communication professionals in the collegiate sphere. Heiney, serving as EPCC's Marketing and Community Relations Director, took part in a curriculum tailored to push participants to become integral members of their college's administrative leadership teams.
This educational feat was highlighted by Heiney himself, who pointed out the benefits of the program, as obtained by EPCC News, saying, "The NCMPR Leadership Institute gave me additional insight to better serve EPCC's Mission and highlight the College's great work to our community." It's a win for both Heiney and the college he represents, signaling a commitment to professional development and institutional excellence.
In a nice touch of simultaneous representation, EPCC is also making its mark at the NCMPR National Conference held this week in New Orleans, Louisiana. The college's influence at the event is bolstered by EPCC Mass Communication Professor Lisa Elliott, who is partaking in the groundwork of the organization as a member of the NCMPR Executive Committee of District 4.
With Heiney's graduation from the leadership program and Elliott's executive committee work, EPCC is unmistakably charting a course for greater visibility and influence in the realm of marketing and public relations within the community college landscape. This double feature at the NCMPR event underscores EPCC’s approach to leadership and communication, they're not just participating, they are moving and shaping the field.
