Residents and commuters in Contra Costa County should brace for construction-related delays along Shawn Drive starting next Monday. The Contra Costa County Public Works Department has announced the Tara Hills Curb Ramps Project, which will be sandwiched between Flannery Road and Delmore Road. Depending on how the weather behaves and if any other unexpected events pop up, the project is scheduled to run through early June 2025.
According to the Contra Costa County Public Works Department, construction crews will be on site from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on weekdays, except on holidays.
Anyone driving through the area can anticipate up to a 10-minute hold-up as traffic controls kick in and message boards communicate the ongoing work. It might be wise to consider a Plan B for your usual route if traveling during those times. The aim here is to put in new curb ramps at certain cross streets, construct a speed table that resembles a hump, and slap up some rectangular rapid flashing beacons (RRFB) where Shawn Drive meets Delmore Road.
